I experienced the same problem on the March 8th, though I was too lazy to call the support. Since I've got the new firmware the day before I doubt that it's to blame.

Don't know if I got the update or not (I'll check when I get home), but as of March 8, web access went from consistent to hit-or-miss, with numerous "web site is not available" messages popping up, even for nytimes.com. I called support, and they said it seems to be affecting ALL Kindles, so I'm wondering if the firmware update had something to do with this.

Thanks for the information on the update. I like you did not even realize that the update had occurred. What is even more interesting I usually have the wireless off to save the battery. But I bought a book today and I noticed it took a little longer to get the book. I guess that is when I got the software update. I will have to experiment with the 5-way button to see if there is an increase in the speed.

I have had the Kindle for about 10 days and love the ease of use and the great screen. I still need to get a technical book to see how they deal with some of the pictures. But I will be a long time e-book reader from now on!
