I know that the new K2iex is out which includes the jailbreak (which jailbreaks, installs the update, and then unjailbreaks). I installed all hacks using this original jailbreak. Any harm in keeping it on there, or should I uninstall the jailbreak? Will there be any reboot issues with it on? Thanks.

Hi.

The steps of jailbreaking the Kindle 2 International is now not required anymore if you package the application with the new kindle packager version 0.4
http://jyavariousideas.blogspot.com/2009/11/kindle-2-international-packager-now.html

It's just a matter of re-running the python packager with the -k2iex option

Savory now available for the Kindle 2.

Added some improvements in the installer and uninstaller ; it also requires a new EXT3 disk image to be installed.

More info:

I wouldn't count on it. Updates are very expensive for Amazon. We are more likely to see unicode support in a new device rather than via software update.

Do you know whether Amazon plans to add Unicode support officially to a future firmware? I don't want to jailbreak my Kindle but I would like to put Unicode books on it.
